Anyway, I was eating my breakfast and the TV was tuned into TV5 and I saw this some sort of Mickey Mouse show dubbed in Filipino. It was, for the most part, okay until it got to the “summer song” and it just got weird. Imagine people singing to the tune of “Surfin’ USA” in Filipino. Weird.
The whole thing reminded me of a thesis I read last year. I’m not sure of the details but from what I can remember, the researcher had a bunch of elementary kids watch Tagalized cartoons for some time and then had them take an English test.
